Proofreading

Proofreading takes place after the editing process. It is the final check of a document (typically after a publisher or formatter has turned it into a proof) that looks for any errors missed during editing to ensure it is ready for publication. Only very minor changes are made to the text at this stage. Proofreading may include correcting things like:

  • grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors;
  • formatting errors;
  • layout/typesetting issues (e.g. inconsistent font size/type, etc.)
