Line Editing

Line editing is somewhere in betweeen developmental editing and copy editing. It is a heavier edit than a copy edit with more focus on the flow, clarity, and style of each paragraph, but also includes looking at grammar, punctuation, and spelling. It is not as in-depth as a developmental edit, however, because it zooms in on the sentences and paragraphs individually as opposed to the aerial view of the whole document. An example of documents that would need this kind of editing would be a thoroughly developed manuscript or a manuscript in its second draft.
