Hi, I’m Joyce, a Christian PEN Gold Member, Christian Editor Connection member, award-winning writer, and professionally certified proofreader. As a theology and grammar nerd, I began my personal Christian blog in 2014 which lead to working as a Christian contract writer and freelance editor. I am a mom of eight blue-eyed blessings (one in heaven) and wife to one Tarheel fanatic. When I’m not karate-chopping typos, you’ll find me consuming coffee, reading classics and Christian non-fiction, teaching my kiddos, or singing and serving in my church. You might also find me acting in a local theatre production, crushing a BOD workout, or on a hike.
More About Me
I’ve had a love of English and grammar since I can remember. As a child I would write stories on an old fashioned typewriter and spend my free time pouring over word searches or reading. I excelled in writing and literature classes in high school.
In college, I pursued an English degree from Maryville University of St. Louis, MO (my hometown), for three years until I discovered my passion for theology. I enrolled in the Religion program at Missouri Baptist University and graduated with honors with a BA in Religion/Theology in 2007.
Missouri Baptist is also where I met my husband, John. We married in 2006 and pursued our love of the Lord and ministry together as he pastored at churches in KY, IL, and MO. We had our first child in 2008, and I’ve been a stay-at-home mom ever since. Our family continued to grow quickly to eight children by 2019, the last baby ending up in heaven at 34 weeks.
My personal blog began in 2014 as I published meditations on Scripture and the Christian life. In 2019, I began contract writing blog articles for Lifeword Media Ministry, and shortly after became an editorial intern there. In 2021, I became an award-winning writer in the Writer’s Digest annual Writing Competition. I also began editing manuscripts and articles for friends and pastors, which caused me to launch my own freelance editing business. In 2022, I became the Communications Editor for a nonprofit foster care ministry, Coyote Hill.
My desire at Parker Christian Editing is to help Christian writers/organizations get the best possible version of their message across to readers.
